News sources are proposing that Manteen (Omar Mir Seddique) was radicalized by visiting ISIS sites and watching videos of their activities, and preaching.  ___   If that is true why have many others not had the same experience.  ___   If only watching the videos, and other text on the sites were the sole cause there should be many more cases of radicalization.  

This site suggests the problem is subliminal operant conditioning from your brain's interpretation of the subliminal appreciation of threat, arising with  subliminal FAILED attempts to startle.  When the trigger for the suppressed startle reflex, functions  as a stimulus, reward,   to reinforce the beliefs being espoused on those sites,  radicalization happens from subliminal operant conditioning.

Because the FAILED, suppressed, attempt to startle happens in the brain below thought, reason, and consciousness, Subliminal Distraction exposure is UNDETECTABLE.   It cannot be consciously experienced.    The subtle changes in thought, and beliefs seem to be the subject's own conclusions without any outside influence. 

 It would only happen for those Internet users who make the design mistake where they use their computer.    The timing, spacing, and frequency of those subliminal attempts to startle would effect the outcome from anxiety, paranoia, panic, depression, and in extreme exposure causes thoughts of suicide.   Most of these mass shooting cases end in suicide.   The Investigation Methodology page explains how this information is found. Exaggerated or retracted eyelid opening of surviving shooters, Hasan, Holmes, show a recent deep brain disturbance.   My wife had that effect when she had a Subliminal Distraction mental break.   The effect quickly spontaneously remits with rest from Subliminal Distraction.  Although there are other physical causes of retracted eyelids, those do not remit without medical intervention.      (This is original work in psychology using a problem engineers solved fifty years ago. This site is about a problem of human physiology everyone has which engineers discovered to cause mental breaks for office workers in 1964.  When told the mental breaks were caused by the psychiatric effect of the long term suppression of the vision startle reflex, they designed the cubicle to block peripheral vision to stop it in offices by 1968.

But those engineers, designers, and human factor scientists did not understand what they had discovered.

A normal feature of our physiology of sight, the "mental break causing design mistake" can be replicated to show it will cause psychiatric symptoms beginning with anxiety, and depressive ideation for anyone with full normal sight who can suppress the vision startle reflex.

Everyone aware of it believes it is a harmless nuisance in the design of crowded offices. So little is thought of the problem that it is not in books. The physiology is explained in first semester psychology lectures on how peripheral vision reflexes are created. __ But the mental break is rarely mentioned. My instructor only said, "Subliminal sight caused a problem in the early days of modern office deign." - I had learned of it as a 22 year old engineering student in 1966.   I was the only person in the lecture to recognize the problem. __  It meant nothing to me until it happened to my wife in 2002.    Connie Tucker's office picture, and hospital record are here.

In psychology Subliminal Distraction and the mental break it causes is not not recognized as a current ongoing problem even though open plan offices now use Systems Furniture so that no one sits/moves in another worker's peripheral vision.

In homes, people, pets, large mirrors, or reflective glass surfaces, big screen TVs, or anything else your brain can mistake for threat movement will engage the subliminally functioning brain system which triggers the vision startle reflex.   Subliminal Distraction exposure, as the name suggests, happens in your brain below thought, reason, and consciousness. It is undetectable.

There is no picture of a desk top computer in the views available and a video of the apartment.

The sofa arranged so that the TV is in peripheral vision for anyone using a laptop while sitting there is the situation which would cause Subliminal Distraction.

The question, of course, is that how and where he used his computer?

Police would have removed the CPU for a desk top leaving the keyboard, and screen. None was evident in the pictures or video posted on-line.

This would mean he used a laptop.

Sitting on the couch with the big screen TV playing in peripheral vision while using the computer would create Subliminal Distraction.

If he sat at an open table to use the computer, another source of exposure would have been his current wife and three  year old child moving in his peripheral vision.
