Grisi Siknis

(Jungle Madness)

Close confinement of family groups in single room living situations

where each person using deep mental investment to the point

they become unaware of movement around them, will allow visual subliminal distraction.

Today computers and texting on smart phones can create that level of cognitive investment.

But they are not necessary to have the psychiatric symptoms of visual subliminal distraction.

The same situations happen around the world producing Culture Bound Syndromes.

An outbreak of Grisi Siknis among Miskito Indians in South America,

shows symptoms of a visual subliminal distraction episode.

Victims have hallucinations in which spirits or demons come to have sex.

Others grab sticks to fight with those spirits.

Seizures are common.

Similar episodes have happened to school children other South American countries.

Seizures and hallucinations of sinister dark forms are symptoms.

In both situations the cause is believed to be from witchcraft or Satanic Possession.

The American Psychiatric Association blames stress.

Examples in modern South American cultures have been blamed on

using Ouija boards or playing games to contact spirits.

But children were using smart phones and computers without

peripheral vision blocking protection.

An incident In Ontario elementary schools, when industrial Wi-Fi was installed

so computers could be used anywhere in classrooms, also produced similar symptoms.

Wi-Fi transmitter EMR was blamed by parents and activists groups in Canada.

In that case news reports unknowingly showed pictures of the children creating the

"special circumstances" for visual subliminal distraction.

It was called Wi-Fi Illness.

If you begin to have symptoms such as

panic/anxiety, or depressive episodes unjustified fear/aggression

or thoughts of suicide,

investigate your daily activities, especially computer use,

for the "special circumstances" to allow

visual subliminal distraction.

Perform my demonstration of the

'habituation of conscious sight in peripheral vision'

to understand why visual subliminal distraction

cannot be perceived as it happens undetectably in the mind

below reason and conscious thought.

As far as I can determine there are no papers or research about

visual subliminal distraction anywhere.

Designers and engineers aware of it believe it limited to incorrectly designed

high traffic offices causing only a harmless temporary episode of panicked confusion,

sometimes so severe it causes hallucinations.

Fearing lawsuits against employers or customers they eschew discussing it.

That, in part, explains why the pubic, as well as mental health services/research

are unaware such a mental break causing design problem exists.

No one screens for it before diagnosing mental illness.

2002 Design Question Post on architecture website.

This problem of subliminal sight is explained in first-semester psychology class lectures

about how peripheral vision reflexes are created

with the subliminal detection of threat-movement nearby in peripheral vision.

But those courses do not sufficiently explore or explain it is a normal feature

of everyone's physiology of sight,

not just a problem of incorrectly designed offices.

It is usually briefly mentioned as something that happened once, long ago.
