Most find this hard to believe because they did not take the psychology course

that explains visual subliminal distraction.

It's a normal feature of everyone's physiology of sight that

design engineers discovered when it caused

still-believed-harmless panicked episodes of confusion

for knowledge workers in business offices, 1964.

Have you not wondered why mass shooters with few exceptions have been

students, home computer users on social media, video game players,

with a few small business office or postal workers?

A visual subliminal distraction episode explains it.

Evidence has been revealed, unrealized in news reports, to show                          

the Virginia Tech, Redlake tribal school, Jokela, Finland culinary school,

 Atlanta day trader, Virginia baseball, and Las Vegas shooters

                             all created the "special circumstances" for visual subliminal distraction.

This message is a condensed presentation, and solution of a problem everyone has.

But because it happens in the mind below thought, reason, and consciousness,

no one realizes it exists.

Design engineers have successfully prevented the                   

                    light harmless episode it can cause in offices since 1968.

Today computers, and other digital view-screen devices, allow the "mental break causing design mistake"

design engineers discovered, to migrate from offices to homes, dorm rooms, and student apartments.

Without the work requirements and supervision of an office                              

home workers, video game players, and those on social media         

can create longer exposure which will build the outcome

until a severe episode happens.

Mass shooters are acting out the hallucinated paranoid delusions

of persecution and wrongs done to them.

When this happened to my wife she heard voices,

and hallucinated guilt for impossible delusional crimes.

Everyone with a computer at home or a child in school

should understand why the office cubicle was created.

Although there is a multi billion dollar industry in the United States alone

to prevent the "office worker" mental event,

using cubicles, and Systems Furniture in open plan offices,

the public, mental health services, and research are unaware the episode does, or could exist.

No one aware of Subliminal Distraction mental breaks seems aware                    

it is a problem of the physiology of human sight, not limited to offices.

                     Desks, chairs, and filing cabinets do not cause mental breaks.

People have the office worker mental event when all the "special circumstances" to cause it exist anywhere.

Only the completely blind, and those unable to consciously suppress, block, the vision startle reflex are immune.

The true story of why the office cubicle was created is

too involved to effectively communicate in a limited short form.  

In 2002 my wife had a psychotic break when her office in the payroll department of the UofA was changed eliminating Cubicle Level Protection.  I had known of the "mental break causing design mistake" since I was a 22-year-old engineering student at Alabama in 1966. But I had never seen it happen before.

Information to conclude mass shooters and college suicides are creating this design mistake where they work. study, or use a computer appears rarely, unrecognized, in news accounts.  (Surviving shooters have exaggerated eyelid retraction which quickly remits, suggesting it is not a neurological problem but indicates a recent spontaneously remitting deep brain disturbance. My wife had that eyelid retraction the day after she stopped working.  It too remitted over a day or so.)

As Connie's case developed it soon became apparent that the entire mental health establishment is unaware this problem exists. I began a site to record my investigation while I  tried to discover why this simple problem has never been investigated.

In nine years searching, I found only one psychiatrist at Tufts University, who said he had seen the episodes from offices when he was in residency.  Dismissive that it can cause anything other than the light episodes from offices, he refused to respond for questions.

Unaware  it can happen anywhere the "special circumstances" are created long enough, a multi-billion dollar industry has developed since 1968 to provide "peripheral vision blocking protection" for knowledge workers in business offices selling cubicles and Systems Furniture (used in open-plan offices). Peripheral vision blocking prevents repeating undetectable (happening in the brain below thought, reason, or consciousness) failed attempts to visually startle. That failed attempt is a 'visual subliminal distraction,' defined in psychology lectures on peripheral vision reflexes. The public, mental health services, and research are unaware such a problem does or could exist. (Herman Miller Inc., Steelcase, Knoll, Haworth and others form the industry.)

I called  Church & Stagg in Birmingham and spoke with their designer and her supervisor. They were aware of the design problem with human physiology. But all they knew was the term Cubicle Level Protection.They asked Steelcase, and the designer's UA engineering professor, but could not find the correct term, Subliminal Distraction.

There is a link on my site to an archived forum post from 2002, where I was accused of being an attorney trying to get information for a lawsuit. Believing the episode harmless, design engineers and office furniture manufacturers eschew discussing it fearing a flood of suits against them or their customers.

A first-semester psychology instructor can explain 'visual subliminal distraction.'  But if the mental break is mentioned in lectures it is treated as a historical note, not a current problem everyone has. Psychology instruction on Subliminal Distraction is so poor you may have to insist the instructor look it up. (All my 1990's instructor at Shelton State said was, "Subliminal sight caused a problem in the early days of modern office design.")

I contacted  my instructor (MA then, listed in Growth & Human Development now) at UA. She remembered me but not the lecture, then several years previous.

That course was the same as taught at Bama then.  I can't get a response from the Psychology Department to find the citations for visual subliminal distraction or the mental break it can cause.

You will have to use subterfuge to investigate this with design engineers or office furniture manufacturers.
